Anthony Smith has been released from Sarpy County Jail in Nebraska after appearing before a judge on Wednesday morning. According to the report cited by MMA Fighting, the former UFC light heavyweight title challenger was released on a $500,000 bond.
Smith was arrested last Monday night, July 27, 2026, on felony charges of Attempted First Degree Domestic Assault, Terroristic Threats, and First Degree False Imprisonment. At this stage, his arrest affidavit remains sealed, so the publicly available information is limited to the charges and the bond decision.
The UFC veteran, who also later worked as an analyst for UFC broadcasts, has not issued a statement, and neither has UFC at the time of this writing. Smith turned 38 just a few days ago. He retired from UFC in early 2025, but returned to action in April for Jorge Masvidal’s Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA, where he earned a submission victory over fellow UFC export Chase Sherman.
For now, Smith is expected to return to court at a later date as the case continues.
