Oleksandr Usyk shocked the boxing world on Friday by hastily surrendering all three of his championship titles, relinquishing the unified WBA, IBF and WBC heavyweight belts.
Украинский чемпион сделал объявление через социальные сети. В опубликованном сообщении Usyk написал: “I am vacating my unified WBA, IBF and WBC heavyweight world titles ahead of stepping into the ring for my final fight,”. Он также добавил: “It’s a good time to say that I want to vacate all the belts I currently hold. I want to make them available so the guys who are next in line can fight for them.”
При этом речь не идет о завершении карьеры прямо сейчас. “Friends, I’m leaving the belts, but I’m not leaving the sport because I still have my last dance,” Usyk added. “I want to thank everyone. I have great respect for all organizations. I want to thank everyone and say there’s more to come. Glory to God for everything. Glory to Ukraine.” 
Usyk (25-0, 16 KOs) holds wins over the likes of Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua, and Daniel Dubois, among others.
